RAINDROP
-Black and Clear Acrylic, Fishing Line String, Globe and Tubular Lightbulbs, Rhinoceros 3D-
Description
RAINDROP is a pendant lamp that has a black acrylic base in where the clear raindrops hang from, as well as the lightbulb. The idea of the pendant lamp when turned on, is to create shadows on the wall giving the area an atmosphere of a rainy night.
Process
When creating this pendant lamp, I first created a variety of different forms of lamp designs, from desk to ceiling. After, cleaning up the sketches of RAINDROP, I decided to continue with the design and created a 3D module in Rhino. There, the image of how RAINDROP was going to look was made visible.
The measurements and acrylic materials were given to a staff member who worked with the 3D laser. Which I then pieced together after gaining the laser cut pieces, putting clear fishing string through the hole on the base and raindrops, to allow them to dangle.
Tubular lightbulb used to produces shadows of the raindrops on the walls. Giving the pendant lamp another unique aspect to it when using this type of lightbulb.
