Futuristic Devices For COVID-19

-Daily Goods Design Labs' Create your own future wearable! (Covid19 design challenge activity)-

Beginnings

I was given the opportunity to intern with Renn Scott, from Daily Goods Design Labs, and product tested their Create your own future wearable! (Covid19 design challenge activity).

During the internship, I was able to test the product and provided criticism on what could be improved on for other users to use with ease. The package came with cardboard cut outs of the templates of the wearables provided, instructions on the steps needed to take and the templates for the user to design on.

Right Side: The first step in the process, brainstorming and joiting down ideas on what I could create with the shapes provided.

Left Side: The templates provided to create a product using the forms of a watch, compass and a camera.

Quick Pics!

A camera that allows its users to share their experiences with friends and family by taking pictures of different scenes that are sent to group chats selected by the user on their phones. The user taps on the screen once to zoom in and out, and double taps to photograph the scenery. The user selects either the 'Yes or No' option to decide if the image taken is what they want to send.

Area Scanner

Area Scanner directs the user to their destination while scanning the safest route, leading the users in a less populated area allowing them to physical distance themselves from others. The green shaded locations are the safest routes that the user can take, while the red coloured areas, are the most populated area in the location that the user is in.

Relief

A smart watch that provides the user three options for them to take some time of their work and relax. Yoga, Meditation and Breathing exercises are the options provided for the user to alleviate stress after spending the whole day isolated at home. Relief provides the user with different exercises and provides the user with a time on how long they need to hold each position, buzzing when it is time to switch.

The storyboard for Quick Pics! showing how the camera would be used during isolation, when a user would like to interchange experiences with family members and friends.

After the templates were cut and placed in the carboard cut outs, I was asked to create an user journey with a storyboard depicting the usage of each created product that I had designed using the templates provided by Renn Scott. Each storyboard depicted a different scenario on how the products are used and their function.
