Futuristic Protective Wearables
-Daily Goods Design Labs' Create your own future garment! (Covid19 design challenge activity)-
Creation
When I interned with Renn Scott, from Daily Goods Design Labs, I was given the opportunity to test their product of creating future wearables and garments that would aid users in protecting themselves while physical distancing during the pandemic.
Protective Cyber Sweater With Utility Belt
The first wearable design is this long sleeved turtleneck shirt that covers the mouth and nose area. In the area of the face, it has a screen (which is the black rectangle) that allows the user to show their emotions on. Right now on the template, the user has a red smile. The green coloured shapes near the face and the shoulders change colour to allow the user and other users around them that they have reached the maximum number of people that could be in a group, through a sensor that the wearable has. It also comes with a spot in where the user can place their phone in, a working map on the other arm that helps navigates the user and a belt that allows them to place in their hand sanitizer or any small items.
Transparent Distancing Coat With Plum Eyewear Scarf
This second wearable design includes a scarf that covers the lower area of the face, which also includes protective eyewear. This allows the wearer to to have a full face coverage during their walks outside the pandemic. The transparent coat allows the wearer to still show off their clothing, while being overall protected. It also lets the wearer have a specific amount of distance between themselves and the person beside them to allow them to still social distance.
