Regent Park Poncho
This poncho was made to signify the past and the present of Regent Park. The cabbage on the poncho was done to represent how the area was once called Cabbagetown and after renamed to Regent Park. The different coloured stipes along the bottom and the arms of the poncho are the colours that make the building Daniel Spectrum.
The poncho has pockets that allow the user to place small objects in them like their keys or phones, and is able to maintain them warmth during the change in temperature from spring to fall.
Process
When first making this garment, the prototype was created with brown craft paper, with three different versions of how this poncho could look.
This poncho was made with a green coloured fabric as the main body piece, with yellow, purple, red, blue and orange thread across the lengths of both sides of the arms. The same colours are also applied at the bottom of the poncho, with the inclusion of black, in the form of double sided bias tapes, which are also included on the pockets. The cabbage was done with a dark and light green and hand sew on the garment.
